Making a Donation
We have been touched and grateful for the generosity of the people of Cheltenham, helping us to sustain our activities. We look forward to this continuing.
From time to time, we make specific requests through social media and our newsletter for items such as clothes, bikes, and furniture but we have no storage space for offers made at other times. In these circumstances, we would urge you to donate to Gloucestershire Bundles, who take baby items and children’s clothes, and CHEP who take a range of household items. Both these organisations have been very helpful supporting refugees and asylums seekers. And there are always charity shops. Our favourite at the moment is the British Red Cross who have been crucial in providing for people arriving from Afghanistan.
GARAS also have a clothing campaign and details can be found on their facebook page, here.
However, we still need financial donations:
For shop vouchers for specific clothing that can’t be donated (e.g. underwear) or properly fitting shoes
To ensure digital connectivity, which is crucial for online learning, keeping in touch with family and so much more. We try to provide wi-fi to the asylum seekers houses (not deemed necessary by the Home Office), mobile data top-ups, laptops and phones if needed.
Bicycle repairs and maintenance
For snacks etc at the weekly drop-in for asylum-seekers
For craft materials etc for children’s activities at the monthly Welcome Café
We are all volunteers and try to keep admin costs to a minimum but still need an income:
For publicity materials for awareness-raising events
To maintain our website and pay for Public Liability Insurance
You can also donate via our Fighting Digital Poverty in Cheltenham - Donate here
And THANK YOU for all you do to support refugees and asylum seekers making new homes in Cheltenham.
