The next CWR Book Group meeting is on Tuesday 3 August 2021 at 6pm. As long as the weather is nice we will be meeting in Montpellier Gardens again, by the bandstand.
This month’s book is Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire by Akala.
Covering everything from the police, education and identity to politics, sexual objectification and the far right, Natives speaks directly to British denial and squeamishness when it comes to confronting issues of race and class that are at the heart of the legacy of Britain's racialised empire. It is a biography and polemic like no other and guaranteed to spark lots of discussion on 3 August!
The book was serialised on radio 4 and episodes are still available here BBC Sounds - Natives: Race & Class in the Ruins of Empire by Akala - Available Episodes
The details:
Tuesday 3 August at 6pm in Montpellier Gardens.
